Pharmacy Services FAQs

Who can use the pharmacy service?
The pharmacy service is available exclusively to our herd health clients.

How are orders placed?
Orders may be placed by telephone, fax, email, or via our website.

When will the order be delivered?
Orders that are placed prior to the cutoff time for in-house courier deliveries will be delivered on that same day. If the order is placed after the cutoff time the order will normally be delivered on the next day by either the in-house courier or a commercial courier.

In order to be as efficient as we can, we have set up specific delivery days for clients that we service in our large geographical area.

Who will make the delivery?
Most deliveries are made by our in-house courier team, but we also use commercial couriers for emergency deliveries as well as more remote locations.

Where will my order be placed on delivery?
Please let the order desk staff or our driver know where you would like your parcels placed. For biosecurity reasons, we prefer to deliver where animals are not housed. Remember that throughout the winter months the parcels should be placed where the pharmaceuticals will not freeze. In the summer they should be placed in a cool spot out of the direct sun.

What should be done if parcels do not arrive when delivery was expected?
If you do not receive your shipment by the day after the expected delivery date, please call our office. We will implement a tracer through the courier to locate the shipment. If necessary, we will send out a replacement order.

What should I do when I receive my parcel?
Please check the contents of the box and compare this to the items listed on the packing slip. If there are any damaged goods or discrepancies with the packing slip, please notify us immediately. It is important to us that you are satisfied with the shipments you receive.

Is it possible to pick up orders at the office?
If you wish to pick up your order at the office, please make arrangements ahead of time to ensure that your order is available. Our plan is to operate with a “Goods in Motion” philosophy. We use on-site inventories and speedy access to our suppliers to maintain the pharmacy service. We do not have large quantities of all products on hand for unscheduled pick-ups. We do, however, endeavor to maintain a consistent supply of emergency medications.

Shipping

South West Ontario Veterinary Services provides free delivery service for our clients for their pharmaceutical and supply needs. Most deliveries are made by our in-house courier, but we also use commercial couriers for emergency orders as well as more remote locations.

For orders that are placed before the cut-off time, we will make every effort to have them delivered on that same day. If an order is placed after the cut-off time it will normally be delivered on the next day by either our in-house courier or a commercial courier. For clients who have specific delivery days, the order will be delivered with our in-house courier service on your corresponding day or via commercial courier if needed immediately.

Once our delivery driver arrives at your farm, they will put the order in the designated drop-off location for that site. Please check the contents of the order and compare this to the items listed on the packing slip. If there are any damaged goods or discrepancies with the packing slip, please notify us immediately. Be sure that all items are moved quickly to the proper storage location on the farm, especially perishable items.

Returns

Due to the nature of the products we supply, and the biosecurity requirements of the clients we serve, South West Ontario Veterinary Services has to be very cautious on what we accept for returns. Please talk to our order desk member if there is something you are looking to return. Check orders shortly after they have been delivered to be sure everything is correct.

If you ever need more support or information, we are always available to chat. We are here to help!
